Tonight, Life in Kosovo broadcasts a debate with representatives from Kosovo’s political parties who will talk about the latest political developments in Kosovo.

When will the General Elections be held? What is the attitude of PDK, LDK and other parties regarding the elections?  How is the institutional crisis in Kosovo being managed and how are the preparations for the new elections going? Is the Central Elections Commission ready to organise General Elections this year? When will we have political clarity in the country?

Life in Kosovo investigates the types of food that are consumed in Kosovo

This Thursday, Life in Kosovo will discuss the type of foods that are consumed in Kosovo and will also broadcast two investigative reports that show mismanagement in Kosovo’s institutions.

The documentary “The new food in the new place” prepared by the journalist Jeta Xharra analyses the effect on the human metabolism of salamis, chips and other manufactured foods.

How healthy are food products in Kosovo? What are the real ingredients in salamis, chips and other manufactured products? The documentary also presents an analysis of food products from the USA and what the doctors say about becoming overweight?

BIRN will also broadcast an investigative report by the journalist Muhamet Hajrullahu, explaining tender irregularities in the Ministry of Public Administration on the managing of vehicle expenses by satellite.

Why was the tender cancelled then reinstated? What are the arguments between all parties  involved in this tender?

During the show, BIRN will also broadcast another investigative report by journalist Edona Musa, who looks at the laboratory of Family Medical Centre in Vushtrri.

How are the analyses done in this laboratory and who does them? Based on which criteria are patients referred for laboratory analysis?

Life in Kosovo debates the state of rivers in Kosovo

Caution: Because of the live broadcast from the United Nations on RTK last night, the regular airing time of Life in Kosovo show for this week was postponed for tonight, Friday on 20.10.

While all countries are investing millions of euros in protecting the environment, Kosovo still doesn’t have a clear strategy in protecting rivers and lakes from depletion.

Which is the most polluted river in Kosovo? Who is polluting the rivers and lakes of Kosovo? Could this situation have been prevented? What steps is the Ministry of Environment taking? How concerned are
MPs about water pollution? Why are licences issued to quarrying companies, although they are known
to be one of the main polluters of rivers? Who is responsible for the level of pollution in rivers? How should this situation be managed?

To discuss the state of rivers in Kosovo, Muhamet Hajrullahu will be joined by the following guests:

This Thursday, Life in Kosovo interviews Foreign Minister Skender Hyseni.

Journalist Muhamet Hajrullahu asks him about the domestic stance towards the Serbian resolution at the UN? Is there a counter-resolution? Is the UNSC Resolution 1244 a barrier to Kosovo? What is happening with new recognitions after the issuing of the opinion of the International Court of Justice? Are the claims from the opposition regarding secret meetings with Serbia true?

During the show, BIRN will also broadcast a debate regarding marriages and divorces in Kosovo.

How much do weddings cost in Kosovo? Is the number of divorces in Kosovo increasing and if so why?

Life in Kosovo debates on the decrease of birthrate in Kosovo

This Thursday, Life in Kosovo debates on the birthrate decline in Kosovo.

Is birthrate decreasing in Kosovo? What is causing the fall of the number of newborn babies; modernization, the impossibility to raise children as desired, or problems with maternity-leave?

To discuss these and other issues related to birthrate in Kosovo, guests of Edona Musa in the studio will be:

Life in Kosovo Debates the Management of Courts in Kosovo

This Thursday, Life in Kosovo will broadcast a debate on the management of courts in Kosovo in light of a new manual which dictates how they should be run.

What are the challenges and what is new in the court manual? When will the manual come into force? Are there any budgetary implications? Are the changes in the manual in harmony with the new draft law on courts which will enter into force in 2011?

In order to discuss these issues, and others related to the management of courts, the following guests will join Fation Ademi in the studio:

Enver Peci, head of the Judicial Council of Kosovo,
Murat Pacarada, administrator at the economic court in Prishtina,
Avdi Haxhaj, head of the municipal court in Drenas,

In the section Justice in Kosovo, a report by journalist Genc Nimoni will be broadcast on the new Palace of Justice, looking into how the construction is progressing and questions over land ownership.

Tonight, Life in Kosovo will broadcast a debate on the privatisation of Post and Telecommunications of Kosovo.

Should PTK be privatised? Why did the opposition boycott the privatisation strategy in parliament? How much is PTK worth? What will Kosovo benefit from this privatisation? Has the privatisation process been transparent until now?

 

How will PTK’s assets be divided? Why is 75 per cent of these assets been sold? What will happen to PTK employees? How will the recent investigations into PTK impact on potential investors?

Life in Kosovo Debates the Issue of Headscarves in Public Schools

This Thursday, Life in Kosovo discusses the issue of wearing headscarves in public institutions.

 

Who is worried by the use of headscarves? What are the administrative orders regarding headscarves based on? Does anyone encourage women to wear the veil? Does the ban on headscarves in public schools violate human rights?
