Mirza Mrso

Mirza joined BIRN BiH in March 2021. He has been a cameraman for 15 years in TV companies in Bosnia.

He has experience in making documentaries and feature TV series and in daily monitoring significant events. Before starting at BIRN BiH, Mirza worked for the Federation of BiH’s Public Service Radio and Television.

Ivana Drakic Brkan

Based in Sarajevo, Ivana assists with implementation of BIRN Hub’s programmes and provides day-to-day management of the monitoring and evaluation activities related to them, including working with programme staff, external consultants, implementing partners and key stakeholders.

Previously, Ivana worked for more than 10 years in the NGO sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro. She managed different programmes and projects throughout the entire business cycle, from project planning and writing, implementation of activities to reporting to different donors. She managed several regional projects, and is also proficient in research and
monitoring activities, social media and financial management of projects.

Ivana is a political scientist, and graduated from the University of Montenegro in Podgorica. During her undergraduate studies, she spent one year studying in the USA on a USAID/World Learning exchange program. She is currently enrolled in a Master studies at the Faculty of
Economy in Podgorica. Besides speaking BHS languages, she is fluent in English, and knows Spanish and French.

Nicholas Watson

Nicholas was appointed editor of Reporting Democracy in 2020.

An award-winning journalist, he has worked for almost 30 years in Asia, the US and Europe, writing for publications such as the Financial Times, Politico Europe, TheStreet.com, Axios, International Herald Tribune TV and Knight-Ridder News. He was also co-founder and managing editor of Business New Europe

Ardita Zeqiri

Ardita joined the BIRN team in October 2019.

She graduated from the Philosophy Department at the University of Pristina, and before joining BIRN completed an internship at the Dean’s Office at the University of Pristina. She has also undertaken a number of training courses, including at Sbunker, The American Corner and at BIRN.

Ardita covers governance in the Municipality of Pristina but also focuses on international politics, both in the region and around the world.

Sasa Dragojlo

Sasa joined BIRN in 2020 as a correspondent for Balkan Insight. Previously, he has worked for Balkan Insight from 2015 to 2016.

He has also worked for Insajder, the Serbian investigative media portal and a television show in Belgrade. As a part of Insajder team, he worked on documentaries involving political corruption, financial crime and social and workers’ rights. He is the co-author of the investigational documentary entitled, “State against the Workers”, about financial crime in Gosa, Serbia’s railway line factory, author of the documentary, “Bristolska straza” (Bristol guard), about homeless war veterans, and of the documentary “In a Vicious Circle”, which dealt real estate fraud in the country.

During his journalism career, Sasa has published articles in Serbian and regional media, such as the investigative portal KRIK, weeklies NIN and Vreme, daily Danas, the fact-check portal Istinomer, Vice Serbia, Kosovo 2.0 and others.

Sasa has a bachelor degree in journalism from the Faculty of Political Science in Belgrade and speaks Serbian and English.

Arita Suhodolli

Arita completed her Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy and Management with a sub-branch in International Relations at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT Kosovo).

She has worked for RIT Kosovo’s Library and Administration Departments, as well as in the marketing industry for ISO Standards certification companies. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Management at Universum College.

Vasko Magleshov

Vasko Magleshov is а journalist, anchor and TV host for more than 10 years.

He began his career at a National TV broadcaster Sitel, worked for a satellite channel TV 24 News, and continued his career as news-editor at TV21 and Makfax News Agency covering judiciary topics.

He is one of the authors of the Handbook for disinformation and critical thinking for non-formal education in the country, and also is member of Media Judicial Council. He has participated in a lot of professional trainings and workshops for independent media, media literacy, fact checking and investigative journalism.

He has been part from a group for analysis of the media coverage and media monitoring program. Magleshov was awarded by the mission of EU in North Macedonia for an investigative story.

Xhorxhina Bami

Xhorxhina Bami reports on daily developments in Kosovo and also writes feature, analyses, reviews, interviews, and investigations. Originally from Albania, Xhorxhina been living in Kosovo since 2015.

Her previous experience includes working as a freelance journalist in Kosovo for publications such as Kosovo 2.0, Insajderi and Periskopi, as well as an economic researcher for EU project “Further Support to Trade in Kosovo at the Ministry of Trade and Industry”.

Xhorxhina was featured in Italian media’s Osservatiorio Balcani e Caucaso Transeuropa book “Scoprire i Balcani” (“Discover Balkans”) where one of her Kosovo 2.0 articles has been published.

She participated in a programme for young journalists called the “Shadowing Mentorship Program”, which consisted of working in an immersive course alongside a journalist mentor.

Xhorxhina was awarded for her article: “Asset Allocation after Divorce by Kosovo’s Judiciary”, in an event organised by NGO INJECT, which was supported by E4E and financed by USAID.

She has a Bachelor of Science in Applied Arts and Sciences from Rochester Institute of Technology, Kosovo campus with a certificate of semester completion: HAMK University of Applied Arts and Sciences, Finland.

Xhorxhina speaks Albanian, English and Italian.
