Education
With its vast network of journalists, editors and trainers across the Balkans and beyond, BIRN Ltd. is well-placed to provide valuable training to established journalists and those new to the profession. BIRN continues to expand its trainings and capacity-building services to media, NGOs and companies.
BIRN Summer School of Investigative Reporting
The BIRN Summer School of Investigative Reporting is a one-of-a-kind training course in southeastern Europe where both Balkan based and international journalists gain valuable investigative reporting skills.
The five-day training allows journalists to improve their knowledge and skills of investigative reporting by some the most well-known investigative journalists, such as Nick Davies and Paul Lewis of The Guardian; Paul Bradshaw, a UK blogger; Mark Schoofs, ProPublica Senior editor, and several others from Reuters and American Network, CBS. Over the past three years, the BIRN Summer School has educated 90 journalists from around the world.
The Summer School is held in a different country in the region each year and BIRN includes local media players, giving journalists access to a vast network of resources.
