BIRN Albania Focus Page on Local Government

Posted on

BIRN Albania has published a special focus page on its popular Albanian language portal – Reporter.al – focusing on the country’s local government reorganization following the 2014 administrative territorial reform.

The page contains an interactive map of the new territorial entities that emerged from the June 2015 local election, following the administrative-territorial reform which reduced the number of municipalities from 381 to 61.

The website also contains a profile of the each of the 61 new municipalities, a list of elected municipal councils, the CVs of elected mayors as well as the electoral promises they made during the June 2015 electoral campaign.

The focus web page is supported by the Rockefeller Brothers Fund. This project aims to foster transparency in the field of local government in Albania as well explore ways how the country can build a sustainable energy model.
