Produced by the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network, BIRN
and directed by the award-winning film maker Lode Desmet, this
85-minute documentary focuses on the dilemmas facing 17 ordinary people
from Kosovo, Serbia and neighbouring countries in the run-up to final
status negotiations.
During the film they put their most
burning questions to - and receive answers from - a range of leading
local and international political figures, including the European
Union's foreign policy chief, Javier Solana, a senior US State
Department official, Nicholas Burns, Serbia's President, Boris Tadic,
Kosovo's Prime Minister, Bajram Kosumi and many others.
At the beginning of 2010 BIRN network published Digging Deeper - A Guide for Investigative Journalists in the Balkans, written in cooperation with Sheila Coronel, Director of the Stabile Center for Investigative Journalism and professor of professional practice at Columbia University, New York.
