BIRN also transmitted an interview with the of , Bujar Bukoshi, about the problems at Kosovo’s largest hospital.

Director, Ali Sadrijainister of , Bujar Bukoshi said “the situation at UCCK hasn’t been managed .

Because this centre is the pillar of medicine in Kosovo, despite our efforts to have a team , we didn’t , so the procedure sacking the director began.”

When asked why it took the Ministry so long to make the decision, Bukoshi argued that the suspension been officially issued on Tuesday (22 June), but the procedure started a week ,decision been President, who seemed to have had an influence on seven months “the , since the has noobligation to participate director. , hierarchy be respected for nominating, appointing, electing or sacking any official from any position.” the permanent secretary, Haxhi Kamberi had that “I don’t know of any meeting between them, even they have met, it does not mean that any agreement .

The permanent secretary is doing great work the ministry, so it is not importance who has met with whom.”

Sadriu discovered executivemanipulat centre’s tenders, Bukoshi said “I have heard even more than you, because words circulate aroundfor all the words facts are neededthere are procedures, we pretend to have a legislative state, and there are legal procedures how words, if supported with facts, can further suitable institutions.

It’s not my role to play prosecutor”

Asked about the hectares of UCCKLDK officials, Bukoshi argued that “this has been .

I don’t know names, but I know that those hectares are missing. And if those are found and prosecuted by the courts, I will support totally the process of returning the propert to UCCK.”

laws respected by the former director , said “the problem was the general mismanagement of the centre. The UCCK is not a small business or a private entrepreneurship, but is much more sensitive institution with patients, and thus needs better management.”

Ali Sadriu ha said that the clinical centre , “I’m convinced that the gap will be very shortalways when there are such changes, time is needed things to continue in normal flow.” or the next , Bukoshi claimed that “one will be appointed soonafter next should be a doctor, the “also be a very skiful good manager tak into consideration the suggestions and recommendations of doctors.

We do have many experts within UCCK and Kosovo in general, and it’s not a big deal if a director or a minister is sacked from their position, because even a prime minister can be in same position.”be the new head of Chamber of Commerce? Will the Chamber become politicised? Is Kosovo totally dependent on food imported from Serbia? Is protecting domestic products an obligation of consumers or the government?

MuhametHajrullahu was joined by

Safet Gërxhaliu, candidate for the Chamber of Commerce

Both candidates asked why they have applied for the positionKelmendi said “being aware of the current economic situation in the country the huge need for new employment and the importance of this institution, I decidedmy thirty year of experience this significant institution youth will be able to apply their knowledge and become part of economic development.”

When asked why he applied for the position before, said “after successfully establish my own economy, I’m ready to establish a sustainable one for the country and help .”

Besim Beqaj, former of the , was announced of ntegration, Safet has acting president.

Asked why said “my eight years of experience in Kosovo, after twenty years , challenged me to become ‘Chamber man’ and I have been enrolled in the chamber for eight years now, firstly as a senior official, then as external relations director, and my third post was a vicepresident of the chamber’s assembly.

Afterward the leading body of chambers assembly appointed me to be acting president, and now run for president. Most importantly, I not , but 21 members of the council proposed run for this position.

Having worked closely with the two former presidents of the chamber, who have made the chamber the best economic institution in the country, have gain new skills”  Kelmendi was asked Kelmendi argued that after Besim Beqaj was appointed as minister, he a request to , appoint acting president within three months, during applications the position. Kelmndi’s , “it’s surprising to hear Kelmendi saying , because he one of the members who voted my 21 members present in the process of my appointment as acting president, only
two voted against, andall the media that my was only as acting presidentnot as president.

I immediately involved in in order the chamber to continue with its work.

I would the claim that my appointment was not in accordance with the lawif a legal expert.”

Kelmendi competitorthat will successfully replace “it is important for us to see where we have been, where we are now, and where we want to go, and be grateful for having like Besim Beqaj who has visited the world and most importantly brought all knowledge Kosovo. e don’t have to find a person like him, because it will be very hard to do so, but we have to look our general aims and objectiveswe cannot think only of the past because we lose the presen and cannot see the future.”

ask Kelmendihis Machiavelli side, how would he be able to protect the business community, where he currently creating monopoly for small enterprises?”

Kelmendi “according to the 29th amendment, the president of the chamber can be appointed from members large businesses this happenedthat the chamber be le by business leaders and not represent conflict of interests.”

if would use the chamber to increase the reputation and opportunities of business, Kelmendi “,

I have developed a team at my business can lead the company even without me, and my knowledge business in general be at the chamber.”

On their first project if elected, Kelmendi said “the chamber needs more practical management, not only implementation of theories. By lobbying and talking to businesses and mayors,

I have noted concerns and needs that the Chamber should take an initiative . Many businesses in Kosovo .

So, I will create economic , from 100 hectares small municipalities, up to 500 hectares in big municipalities. Without offering these environments to existing small or big businesses we cannot expect economic growth.”

Grxhaliu“according to European and strategies, think smallsupport small and medium enterprises, empowering them by international and in professional capacit.

So, the future objectives of the chamber be to empower small and medium enterprises, fight corruption, promoting , and the for foreign investment in Kosovo.”

How much potential is there for ? Is protecting domestic produc an obligation of consumers or the government? What is happening with the Central European Free Trade Agreement? What is the level of food quality control in Kosovo?
