Media On Montenegro Independence Referendum
Podgorica
28 04 2006 BIRN SaM is organising a round-table debate in Podgorica on April 28, which
will look at how the Serbian and Montenegrin media are covering the independence
referendum.
The debate will focus in particular on the role of the media of both
republics in the build up to the independence poll on May 21.
BIRN SaM will present a Serbian print media monitoring
report conducted by Mirjana Milosevic associate of the Belgrade-based Social
Sciences Institute. Zlatko Vujovic, executive director of the Monitoring
Centre, will discuss the Montenegrin findings.
Other participants in the debate are to include: Dragoljub Zarkovic,
editor of the weekly newspaper Vreme; Vladan Micunovic, deputy editor
of the daily Vijesti; and Danilo Vukovic, deputy editor of the daily Dan.
Representatives of other relevant organisations and media outlets are
also expected to take part in the event.
Dragana Nikolic Solomon, director of BIRN SaM will moderate the debate.
The round table is part of the three-year-long Minority and Training
Project, which was launched in 2005 with the support of the British embassy
in Belgrade through the UK government's Global Opportunities Fund.
