trainees to attend the IWPR Primary Journalism Course graduated from the
three-month training initiative on August 30 in a ceremony in Pristina.

trainees to attend the IWPR Primary Journalism Course graduated from the
three-month training initiative on August 30 in a ceremony in Pristina.
As part of the course, the trainees produced 13 stories which were published
in the Balkans Crisis Report service.
The graduates received IWPR certificates from their trainers, Marcus
Tanner IWPR Balkans editor and trainer, Jeta Xharra, IWPR Kosovo Project
Manager and Tanja Matic, IWPR local trainer.
The seven trainees, Arben Salihu, Driton Maliqi, Krenare Kurtishi, Muhamet
Hajrullahu, Mevlyde Salihu, Tanja Vujisic and Zana Limani, also had their
articles published in local dailies such as Koha Ditore, Epoka e Re and
Zeri as well as international websites such as Relief Web and Peace Woman.
The articles covered broad topics and issues such as women’s education
in Kosovo, unemployment, emigration, the economy, minority issues and
politics.
IWPR would like to thank the senior journalists who volunteered to talk
to the students about their experience s during the course. These journalists
were:
Tim Judah – a well-known journalist and author of books on both
Kosovo and the Serbs
Kim Snegputa – a long-standing international reporter for the London-based
Independent
Emily Harris – Berlin correspondent of National Public Radio, a
US radio station
Kata Mester – spokeswoman for the Kosovo Ombudsman
Jackson Allers – a journalist with the Pacifica Radio and Free Speech
Radio News
Nebi Qena – a journalist with the AFP news agency and Radio Television
Kosova, RTK
Dugagjin Gorani – former Koha Ditore and Koha Vision editor.
The first Primary Level Journalism Course was supported by the OSCE.
