BIRN Macedonia trained seven journalists in Tetovo as part of the
International Standards Reporting project from 29 to 31 March. During
the workshop, BIRN Macedonia Country Director Ana Petruseva and
prominent editor and journalist Iso Rusi worked with reporters from the
bilingual local weekly
Monitor, which covers Tetovo and Gostivar, as
well as with reporters from the Albanian-language dailies Lajme and
Fakti. The three-day workshop included lectures and discussions on
international standards of reporting and ethics, BIRN style and
structure, the basics of investigative journalism and analysis of local
and international reports.
After the workshop, the
journalists teamed up to produce local stories that will be published
on BIRN Macedonia`s web page in Macedonian and Albanian.
Successful trainees will have an opportunity to become permanent members of BIRN's investigative team.
This project is supported by the Office of Public Affairs of the US
Embassy in Skopje. For more information, contact BIRN Macedonia Country
