Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues supporting publication of BIRN - Justice Report until the end of 2010

On May 27, 2009 the Norwegian Government and the BIRN office in Bosnia and Herzegovina signed an agreement on financing of the future work of Justice Report and other activities to be undertaken within the Judicial Programme by the end of 2010.

Under the agreement, the cooperation with Norway, which started in 2006 when BIRN - Justice Report began publishing, has been extended for two more years. In addition to maintaining its financial support, the Norwegian Government once again highly praised the BIRN project in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Over the past three years BIRN, with the help of resources provided by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has produced a daily report on war-crimes trials at courts in Bosnia and Herzegovina and successfully established Justice Radio, which broadcast daily audio reports for use by Bosnian and regional electronic media.

Besides the Justice Report publication and Justice Radio, BIRN intends to initiate a television programme within its Judicial Programme, in the upcoming period. As well as reporting on war-crimes trials before local courts, this programme will offer an analytical and investigative review of transitional justice issues and efforts to address the past in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

A regional conference on "The Transparency of the Judiciary and Responsibility of the Media", to be organized by BIRN from September 1 to September 3 this year, will also be supported by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Justice Report is the only bilingual publication focusing on war-crimes trials conducted before courts in Bosnia and Herzegovina and transitional justice processes in the country.
