Shiv Sharma is the editor for BalkanInsight.com's News section. Shiv, who is
based in Belgrade, joined the Balkan Investigative Reporter Network in February
2008.
Prior to this, he was working as an Assistant Programme Editor at Al Jazeera
English television in Doha, Qatar, where his work involved putting together
bulletins for the channel, while before that Shiv was filing reports as a
journalist with Moscow-based Russia Today Television.
He has also worked as a journalist for a variety of media in his native
Britain including ITN, BBC and Channel Four News.
Shiv has in-depth knowledge of the politics, economy and culture of the
Balkans region and graduated with a History and Politics degree from Queen Mary
University of London and the School of Slavonic and Eastern European Studies in
2004.

At the beginning of 2010 BIRN network published Digging Deeper - A Guide for Investigative Journalists in the Balkans, written in cooperation with Sheila Coronel, Director of the Stabile Center for Investigative Journalism and professor of professional practice at Columbia University, New York.
