Ekaterina has a BA in International Studies and Political Science
from Macalester College in the US and an MSc in European Politics and
Governance from the London School of Economics in the UK. She has also
participated in exchange programmes in Northern Ireland, Germany, and
Cuba. Her interests include human rights, post-communist states and
societies emerging from conflict.
Her professional experience includes work in the
Bulgarian ministry of health, the International Service for Human
Rights in New York, and the Council on International Education Exchange
in Berlin. She joined BIRN as a Project Coordinator in July 2006.
At the beginning of 2010 BIRN network published Digging Deeper - A Guide for Investigative Journalists in the Balkans, written in cooperation with Sheila Coronel, Director of the Stabile Center for Investigative Journalism and professor of professional practice at Columbia University, New York.
