Nerma Jelacic was a British-based journalist for six years, working
most notably for The Observer, The Telegraph and The Financial Times.
She has freelanced for the US edition of Marie Claire magazine, the CBS
News channel and Channel 4.
While in the UK, she worked mainly on
foreign news desks and covered the Balkans and third world countries.
She graduated with honours in Journalism from London College of
Printing.
Nerma joined IWPR as Bosnia and Herzegovina project
director in August 2003. Since then she has produced a number of
groundbreaking investigations and was responsible for development of
the first extensive training course in transitional justice and war
crimes for BiH media and the civil society sector.
She frequently
appears as an anylist on local television stations, the BBC, Radio Free
Europe and has commented on developments in the country for most of the
major world's media. In early 2005, Nerma became Country Director for

At the beginning of 2010 BIRN network published Digging Deeper - A Guide for Investigative Journalists in the Balkans, written in cooperation with Sheila Coronel, Director of the Stabile Center for Investigative Journalism and professor of professional practice at Columbia University, New York.
