With a background in philanthropic studies and foreign languages Kovacevic joined BIRN after working for several years in the development department of the Institute for War and Peace Reporting. During her work for IWPR she has been responsible for monitoring and evaluation of the 45 projects within IWPR’s six regional programs in Afghanistan, Africa, the Balkans, the Caucasus, Central Asia and Iraq. At the beginning of 2010 BIRN network published Digging Deeper - A Guide for Investigative Journalists in the Balkans, written in cooperation with Sheila Coronel, Director of the Stabile Center for Investigative Journalism and professor of professional practice at Columbia University, New York.
