BIRN Serbia works at the forefront of efforts to sustain and develop Serbia’s democratic transition. It facilitates dialogue between the most important actors in society and provides them with the skills necessary to foster good governance and public accountability.
Since its establishment six years ago, BIRN Serbia has become recognised for its professionalism and its ability to influence the public agenda. Our core activities include training, seminars, conferences, round tables and high quality media production.

BIRN Serbia is the local member organisation of the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network, a close-knit group of editors and trainers, which strives to enable journalists in the Balkans to produce in-depth analytical and investigative articles on complex political, economic, and social topics, working both independently and in co-operation with the media at a national level.
BIRN Serbia is registered in Belgrade as a non-governmental, non-profit organisation dedicated to the advancement of the country's political, social and economic path.
At the beginning of 2010 BIRN network published Digging Deeper - A Guide for Investigative Journalists in the Balkans, written in cooperation with Sheila Coronel, Director of the Stabile Center for Investigative Journalism and professor of professional practice at Columbia University, New York.
