BIRN Regional to implement project in Serbia supported by UK Government’s Strategic Programme Fund.

22 02 2010  A project towards the contribution to political stability and conflict prevention through an open debate and discussion of solutions to the problems related to the regionalisation and the fear of separatism in Serbia.

BIRN Regional will be organising a two-day conference in Novi Sad to open up new opportunities aimed towards dialogue between the important actors in national politics, and particularly address the issues concerning the Act on Regional Development (adopted on July 8th 2009 in Serbia). A television documentary show will be prepared following the two-day conference in Novi Sad and it will be widely broadcasted. The documentary will put forward the topics discussed at the conference, which are important both to the wider local audience in each of the regions of Serbia and the international audience.

Upon finalization of the roundtable event, we will publish an in-depth analytical report that will tackle all of theelements of the Vojvodina statute; political, economical, and social. The reports will be published in both English and the local language, and will be widely disseminated.

The project is generously supported by the British Embassy in Serbia through UK Government’s Strategic Programme Fund.
